Friday Treat

Friday lunchtime.. I'm feeling like something sweet.
I venture into Jean Pierre Sancho, the patisserie across the road from work. I never really go there because i want something quick on my lunch break and there is always a line out the door.

I got a ham and Brie baguette and two teeny little pink macaroons! Best macaroons in Perth. All the desserts there look divine!!

My new T2 Plunger

Recently I ventured into the new T2 Shop in the Hay street mall. I love all the beautiful teapots and tea cups.. The draws of loose tea stacked up to the ceiling.. All the teas being brewed and tasted..! I had to put my blinkers on otherwise I would have bought the whole shop!

I was on the hunt for a Coffee Plunger or "French Press" as I had broken Kazs and needed to replace it. I had barely touched a tiptoe inside the shop when a girl asked me "How my day was?" and "was I looking for anything?" I replied that I needed a Coffee Plunger. The girls eyes widened and she said "This is T2 we onky do T... We have some T Plungers over here" she motioned to the coffee T plungers.
I mentioned it looked exactly like the coffee plunger I had broken at home and she replied that "you could probably use it for coffee..."

After using it and making glorious coffee all week, I decided to use it for T..

I used the gorgeous Strawberries and Cream T2 tea

The tea that was produced was very aromatic and perfectly brewed. I quite liked the whole process, I usually find loose leaf teas quite messy and this was an easy way to enjoy my tea :)

Sunday Breakfast

I made this for breakfast today..

Yummy

Housemate Date at 5 Bar

Tonight Kaz (my faithful ally) and i ventured out into a strangely chilly and wet Summer evening.. We had heard good things about the 5 Bar in Mount Lawley. After a few wrong turns we finally made our way in.

They have a large selection of beers on tap and a great tapas menu. The vibe is inviting classy and trendy and its filled to the brim with hipsters. Although the vibe was nearly killed by the fact that we had to sit on and eat off wooden crates. The ratio of tables and chairs to diners is a little out of balance but we made do.

Wooden crate seats..

We started with a jug of delicious cider, it was quite an involved drink and I can't remember everything that went in.

Cider jug being made

Our Cider! The teeny bottle has honey sweetener as the drink can be a little dry.

Our glasses with pink grapefruit garnish!

Apple and Balsamic marinated olives with chili and rosemary. Sautéed chorizo with lemon

The octopus salad.. We were both unsure about the texture and taste. We didn't eat too much of this.

Hand cut chips with Romesco Sauce.

I enjoyed this bar and I will probably go back at a quieter time so I could chill on the couch with my cider.

The First Sunday Roast on Bronte Street

So my roomie Kaz and I are once again heading into uncharted territory.. Neither of us had ever cooked a roast before without one of our Mums in close proximity.
But we pushed the countless roast horror stories out of our mind and marched into the unknown.

We knew what we wanted and how we wanted it.. Perfect roast with crispy, salty roasted potatoes and lots of gravy! Vegetables weren't that important but they had to be on the plate to make it feel right.

As there is only two of us we had quite a small roast lamb. Rosemary was then artfully arranged on the meat for that classic roast flavor.

It was placed into a roasting bag along with four cloves of garlic and some salt and pepper.

Then we peeled some potatoes and added them to the tray with a splash of oil for extra crispy

The roast took a little longer than expected to cook. Our oven mustn't be as amazing as first thought.. We checked it a few times as we were worried about over cooking it. But once it seemed cooked we got it out of the bag and wrapped it in some foil to "rest" for about five minutes. We then put the oven up to one million degrees to crisp up the 'taters.

Carving the meat. We tasted a few of the first slices and it was exactly as we had hoped! We had done it!! Perfect Roast Lamb!

The end result.. Awe inspiring and delicious..!

Cranberry Crush

I got the recipe for this drink from here

It only has three ingredients (well... Four of you're adding alcohol) so its extremely easy to put together when you're feeling like a fresh summery cocktail.

Frozen berries...

Blended up with some cranberry juice

And too finish it off I added the lemonade and a splash of vodka. So yummy and healthy! It's a lovely drink with or without alcohol
